A Moline man pleaded guilty to a single count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse Friday in Rock Island County Circuit Court, receiving probation.
John Morrow, 45, of 135 1/2 4th Ave. Apt. 3, was sentenced to four years of probation, 180 days in the Rock Island County Jail and court costs. Mr. Morrow was given credit for time served in jail, according to court records.
A second count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse was dismissed, court records say.
The incident occurred while the 13-year-old victim was staying at Mr. Morrow's apartment with her mother, according to prosecutors. The victim was laying on a foldout couch in the living room. Mr. Morrow rubbed her breasts and genitals, while the girl, who told investigators she was afraid, pretended to be sleeping, according to prosecutors.
When he stopped touching her, the victim leaped out of bed and told her mother who was asleep in another room, prosecutors said. Mr. Morrow refused to let the mother call police on his phone. She went outside to use a pay phone. Mr. Morrow fled before police arrived, according to prosecutors.
