Harold "H.R." Kessler, Geneseo, will celebrate his 100th birthday with a family luncheon at Good Samaritan, Geneseo.

Harold was born Nov. 9, 1909, in Calvin, Okla., then part of the Oklahoma Territory. He married Ida Mae Lockridge on Oct. 21, 1935, in Butler, Mo. She is deceased.

Harold was employed by the Rock Island Lines railroad for more than 40 years and moved to Illinois to run the train depot in Atkinson. He eventually took over duties at the Geneseo depot until his retirement in 1978. He was an avid gardener, upholstered furniture for many local families, and repaired furniture for Klavon's.

His children are Cliff (Bonnie) Kessler, Elgin, Texas; Suzanne, who is deceased (husband Ron), Fort Wayne, Ind.; Bill (Peggy) Kessler, Washington, D.C.; and Mary (Kurt) Brendstrup, Saluda, N.C. He has seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
