RIVERBOAT AUTHORITY BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPROVE GRANT AWARDS
The Board of Directors of the Riverboat Development Authority (RDA) met today and approved $1,229,300.00 to 54 organizations in the QC Community.
The largest grant, $100,000.00 went to the Levee Improvement Commission of the City of Davenport for the new Sprayground at Centennial Park. The Sprayground is envisioned as one of the unique centerpieces of Rivervision in the Centennial Park Phase of the Rivervision Plan. Today's award brought the RDA's financial participation in Rivervision to $277,500 from planning to the current phase. (Contact person: Steve Ahrens, City of Davenport)
A $50,000.00 grant to the Davenport Community School District will be used to repurpose a part of the Administration Building on Brady Street as a Community Resource Center and to house partner agencies involved with school programming. (Contact person, Rachel Mullens, Davenport Community Schools)
Another key award went to the QC Convention and Visitors Bureau and will be used to "jumpstart" the proposed Cultural Resource Marking Center at Union Station. The grant will be a two year grant, with $25,000.00 for first year funding. The Resource Center is the product of many meetings between the Convention and Visitors Bureau and over 60 cultural and arts organization in the QC Community. It is designed to develop a coordinated cultural destination that can be marketed beyond the local community. (Contact person, Joe Taylor, QCCVB)
