GALESBURG (AP) — Police in western Illinois say one man is dead and another is being sought after a shooting at Kiwanis Park in Galesburg.

Officers tell WGIL Radio that the shooting happened at about 7:15 p.m. Thursday. Eyewitnesses say the park was full of people at the time.

Authorities say 21-year-old Jemell Ware was shot. He was pronounced dead a short time later at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

Police say they're looking for a man who left the park in a maroon and gray van.

Police are still investigating. There's no word of any other injuries.
