Volunteers for Symphony would love to take your donations of gently used items, especially large items such as furniture and rugs. The 2nd Fiddle Sale is in the same location this year as last, the Village Shopping Center on Kimberly Road between Shoe Carnival and Godfather's Pizza. The most direct entrance is the stop light on Kimberly Road by the Family Restaurant. The address is 902 W. Kimberly Road in Davenport.

The four days remaining to make donations to the 2nd Fiddle Sale are:

Wednesday, June 6, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Thursday, June 7, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Saturday, June 9, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Monday, June 11, from 12 noon to 8 p.m.

For 29 years, Volunteers for Symphony has been hosting the area's largest sale of gently used items to support the education programs of the Quad City Symphony Orchestra Association. This is your opportunity to buy from an enormous selection of furniture, home furnishings, antiques, jewelry, furs, clothing, books, toys, games, sports equipment, collectibles, art pieces, and more.

Tickets for the Preview Party on Thursday, June 14, are $10. Admittance on Friday and Saturday is free. Tickets are for sale at the door or at www.qcsymphony.com

1938 -- 75 years ago: Work on Aledo's new $38,000 swimming pool was started thismorning at South Park when ground for the pool was broken by Mayor John W. Murphy.
1963 -- 50 years ago: Students and teacher at Moline High School called today "MissLeona Day" day at the school in honor of the government teacher who retires at theend of the school term. Although she's been teaching for 43 years at the school, Miss Dayfound a new way of arriving at the school this morning. At 7:30 a.m., a police squad carpulled up in front of Miss Day's home and escorted her to school. A caravan of students' cars joined the procession along the way.
1988 -- 25 years ago: Barbecue cooking and riverfront antics are planned for Discover the
River Day Saturday in Leach Park, Bettendorf. A 5K run, wind surfing, a canoe race, hogcalling and more will round out the day under the Interstate 74 bridge.
