Sylvia Jean Posateri, 77, of Milan, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 23, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Visitation will be one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will be at Beulah Cemetery, Rural Township. Memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
Sylvia was born Jan. 11, 1935, in Aledo, daughter of Marvin L. and E. Aletha Brown Welch. She married August M. Posateri. He died on July 10, 2005.
Mrs. Posateri was the owner and operator of Sylvia's Ridgewood Kennels, Milan. She also had worked at the QC Animal Welfare Center, Milan, and Blue-Jean Stables, Coal Valley.
Sylvia loved animals, especially caring for the horses August and she had at the stables.
Survivors include her children (and spouses), James (Cheryl) Posateri, Milan, Michael Posateri, Milan, Michol (Bryan) VanDeWostine, Lynn Center; grandchildren, Jamie, Nicholas, Daniel, Breanna, Kimberly, Carissa, Carson, Courtney, John, Dylan; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Madline, Skylynn, Bentley, Bryleigh, Isabella; sister, Cheryl (William) Wright, Colorado; and brother, John (Kathy) Abbott, Orion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, LuAnne Ladenburg.

At 7:30 a.m., a police squad carpulled up in front of Miss Day's home and escorted her to school. A caravan of students' cars joined the procession along the way. 1988 -- 25 years ago: Barbecue cooking and riverfront antics are planned for Discover the River Day Saturday in Leach Park, Bettendorf. A 5K run, wind surfing, a canoe race, hogcalling and more will round out the day under the Interstate 74 bridge.
