There are 146 days left in the year. 1862 -- 150 years ago: During the storm Tuesday night, a bolt of lightning struck the stable at the residence of Mayor Bailey Davenport. 1887 -- 125 years ago: The 1887-88 theater season in Rock Island will be opened Aug. 27 at the Harper House. 1912 -- 100 years ago: Commissioner Jonas Bear today turned the first earth for the construction of a new Odd Fellows home. 1937 -- 75 years ago: The national debt attained an all-time high of $36,814,414,573 today. 1962 -- 50 years ago: L. M. Claussen, chief engineer of the Iowa Highway Commission, revealed here yesterday that Interstate 80 is expected to be open between Davenport and Iowa City by Nov. 1. 1987 -- 25 years ago: It looked like a family reunion, or a group of people gathered to enjoy an old-fashioned evening of song and music on a sunny summer evening. It was about 130 Quad-Citians gathered at LeClaire Park, Davenport to talk about worldwide peace and a ban on nuclear weapons.
