Davenport East Second St. to close on Oct. 1

Davenport Public Works posted the following update to the city website.

On Monday, October 1st, East Second St. will be closed between Brady Street and Perry Street between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The closure is necessary in order for a crane operator to load material onto the MidAmerican Energy building. Motorists are advised to follow the signed detour routes or take alternate routes during the closure. Local access will remain available.

1989 -- 25 years ago: Gardeners and farmers cheered, but not all Quad-Citians found joy Saturday as more than an inch of rain fell on the area. Motorists faced dangerous, rain-slick roads as the water activated grease and grime that had built up during dry weather.
