Charles J. Vanek, 80, of Davenport, died on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at ManorCare Health Services, Davenport.
Following Chuck's wishes, private family services will be held and burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, is handling arrangements.
He was born on March 23, 1932, in St. Louis, Mo., to Charles Alois and Ludmila Dostal Vanek. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He had been in sales for the furniture industry.
Survivors include, sisters, Vivian Petersen, Belton, Mo., Charlene (John) Miller, Davenport, and Marie (Doug) Williams, Mesa, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
