John Bentley
Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Weerts, Davenport. Private graveside services will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. He was born in 1934 in Racine, Wis., to Lionel and Eva Bentley. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He then worked for Alcoa for 42 years. Survivors include his sister, Barbara (William) Case, Bettendorf; niece, Linda Shafer, Mesa, Ariz.; nephews, Glen Bentley, Davenport and Dr. Neal Bentley, Ames, Iowa.

1988 -- 25 years ago: Hampton's sesquicentennial committee and the Hampton HistoricalSociety have scheduled a full slate of activities, which will be held throughout the year, to celebrate the village's 150th birthday. The first celebration will be the Memorial Dayprogram at 10 a.m. May 30, at the Brettun and Black Store Museum on River Road. Therewill be a sesquicentennial display.
