Eldon R. Showers, 89, of Davenport, died on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Crest Health Center, Davenport.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Runge, Davenport. Private burial is at Davenport Memorial Park.
He was born May 30, 1923, in Mercer, Mo., to William and Rosie Showers.
Surviving are children, Patricia Toomey, Salinas, Calif., Lonnie (Brenda), East Moline, Verl (Chris), Davenport; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters; five brothers; former wife, Erma; sons, Danny and Dennis.

1989 — 25 years ago: Beginning this fall, Black Hawk College will offer a continuing education course in horseback riding at the Wright Way Equestrian Center, Moline, located just east of the Deere Administration Center.
