1 dead in school bus-car crash near Kankakee

KANKAKEE, Ill. (AP) — The driver of a car is dead after the vehicle crashed into the back of a school bus near Kankakee.

Illinois State Police say the accident happened Thursday on Illinois Route 113 in Kankakee County, about 50 miles south of Chicago.

State Police Lt. Jamal Simington tells The (Kankakee) Daily Journal that eight students were on the school bus when the Chevrolet hit it. He says one student was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
