Donna K. Poston, 59, of Rock Island, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at her home surrounded by family.
Visitation was December 23, 2012, at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the Donna Poston Memorial Fund, or a charity of choice.
Donna was born on Jan. 3, 1953, in Moline, the daughter of the late Alvin Curry Jr. and Becky Briggs Crisel. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1971.
She worked for 32 years at Blackhawk Bank and Trust where she was currently assistant cashier. She was married to the late Roy Gonzalez. She married William Poston on Nov. 6, 1998.
Donna was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Milan. She enjoyed getting together with people for fun, food, games and events. Most importantly she loved being a daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was more than just her relatives. She adopted many others into her life as a part of her family.
Donna volunteered for many organizations such as the John Deere Classic, Festival of Trees, American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, American Diabetes Society, Gilda's Club Pink Ribbon Golf Classic, M.I.P Craft Show, Tug Fest of LeClaire, Milan Indian Summer Festival Volunteers, Adopt-A-School and Milan Little League among many others.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; mother, Becky; mother-in- law, Delores Gonzalez; her children, Derek Gonzalez, Ryan (Jami) Gonzalez, Jenifer (Mike) Steichen and Lori (Craig) Hassan; brothers, Steve (Brenda) Curry and Shawn (Marnita) Curry; sister, Julie Willet; grandchildren, Tyler, Emilie, Donovan; Stella, Jon "J.D."; Tyler, Dylan; Paige and Jack; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her father; and her mother-in-law, Adina Poston.
A special thanks to her special friends, Kathy Howell, Vicki Johnston, Joey Gibson and Pearl Smith who helped Donna feel pampered and relaxed during her last weeks.
Her smile will be missed by many, but never forgotten.
