Darrell L. Upton, 77, of Moline, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to his family.
Darrell was born on May 2, 1935, in Tahlequah, Okla., the son of Russell L. and Velma E. Anthony Upton. He married Virginia Waggoner on Sept. 11, 1958, in Shreveport, La.
Darrell worked as a security guard for Alcoa and Trinity Rock Island and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He enjoyed NASCAR and fishing and loved working on cars and cooking.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Upton, Moline; daughters, Patricia (Terry) Anderson, Davenport, Darlyn (Stephen) Jackson, Ashland, Ky., Mary (Gary) Edwards, Moline; grandchildren, Terry Jr., Dawn, Ryan, Shailyn, Adam, Gracie, Shalee, Logan, Allison, Keaton and Megan; brothers, Thomas E. (Janet) Upton, Moline, Russell (Judy) Upton, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.
