Milan Santa raises more than $9,400 in 73rd campaign

MILAN -- The Milan Santa Fund raised $9,485 during its 73rd holiday fundraising campaign.

The fund, sponsored by the Milan Woman's Club, provided basic clothing, hats, gloves, shoes and blankets to 71 children. The Milan Lions Club provided holiday dinner food baskets to the families and seniors.

The 73rd Milan Santa Fund helped 31 families and 23 seniors.

1989 -- 25 years ago: The B-29 Super-Fortress bomber is impressive looking, and it did the job during World War II. Its claim to fame is dropping the atomic bombs in Japan to end the war. Only one B-29 is operational in the world today. It is on display at the Quad City Airport in Moline until Friday.
