Ronald Anderson
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon, followed by a 2 p.m. memorial service, with the Rev. Mike Jones, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Dixon, officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Madrone Hospice, 255 Collier Circle, Yreka, CA 96097, or Dixon Gyro's. Ronald was born Jan. 22, 1934, in Hampton, the son of Raleigh and Mabel Dorothy Hofesetter Anderson. He married Carol Gillespie Blattner on July 9, 1967, in Moline. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2001. He worked for the Rock Island County Illinois Sheriff's Department from 1965 to 1966, the Milan Police Department from 1958 to 1965 and retired as a lieutenant from the Illinois Secretary of State Police on Jan. 1, 1991, after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Dixon Gyro's and the Dixon Elks Club BPOE No. 779. Survivors include two sons, Rickie Carl (Teresa) Anderson, Etna, and Daniel Thomas Anderson, Rock Island; two daughters, Kris (Joe) Burns-Anderson, Muscatine, Iowa, and Catherine "Cathy" Webb, Silvis; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brian Anderson; one granddaughter, Jennifer Larson; and one sister, Shirley Nice.
