Janet L. Laude Lauro Frey, 86, of Deerfield Beach, Fla., formerly of Rock Island and Dubuque, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, with family at her side, after a brief illness. Services were held Jan. 21, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Deerfield Beach. Janet was born July 10, 1926, in Dubuque, the daughter of Claire and Lucille Laude. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1944. Janet married Dr. Stephen Lauro. He preceded her in death. She later married Andrew Frey. He preceded her in death. Survivors include daughters, Susan (Jerry) Beatrice and Linda Lauro; sons, Michael Lauro and John Lauro; granddaughter, Joni Beatrice; grandson, Joey Lauro; brothers, Don (Marilyn) Laude, Jim (Judy, deceased) Laude; sister, Marilyn (Michael) Ptacek; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

1963 -- 50 years ago: The American Wind Symphony Orchestra will present two concertsin the Quad-Cities on Aug. 6, performing from its specially equipped stage-barge. Thebarge, which is traveling the Mississippi River route, will be moored just off the shore forthe concerts.
1988 -- 25 years ago: Fines for overdue items at the Rock Island Public Library are beingincreased to 10 cents per day per item effective July 1. Fines will not be prorated onbooks returned after that date.
