BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) — A southwestern Illinois mother and son already accused of concealing an overdose death now face heroin-trafficking charges.
Prosecutors in St. Clair County have charged 65-year-old Deborah Perkins and 46-year-old Douglas Oliver II of Fairview Heights with trafficking and unlawfully possessing a controlled substance.
The two also face federal charges that they possessed a controlled substance with plans to deliver it.
The two are jailed. Bond is set at $2 million on the state charges, and there's no bond on the federal counts.
Prosecutors last September charged the two with trying to conceal the overdose death of 30-year-old Jessica Williams. That Collinsville woman was reported missing two weeks before her body was found in Washington Park.
Messages seeking comment were left Friday for attorneys for Perkins and Oliver.
