SPOTS STILL AVAILABLE FOR IMSA's SATURDAY FUNSHOP "SNOW DAY" FEATURING GLACIER AND SURVIVAL SCIENCE FOR 3RD-6TH GRADERS

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.; Check in begins at 8:45 a.m.

What: The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) Rock Island Region Field Office presents its Saturday FUNshop "SNOW DAY".The forecast predicts learning with LOTS OF FUN for this upcoming FUNshop. FUNshops are three-hour student enrichment opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics offered throughout the year at the main IMSA campus in Aurora and at IMSA's field offices.Students rotate through two different educational sessions with a snack break.

The program fee of $20 covers all materials and a snack.Preregistration is required.Need-based scholarships are available for Illinois students.Registration and scholarship information is available at this website: https://www3.imsa.edu/programs/fieldoffices/rockislandregion. This FUNshop is coordinated by IMSA and delivered by local teacher partners from Rock Island, East Moline, and Galesburg school districts.Third and fourth graders will investigate glacier formation and glacier movement using ice cubes, mini marshmallows, and glacier gak.Fifth and sixth graders will explore arctic animal adaptations and simulate "walking on ice" by making oobleck; the ultimate challenge for these students will focus on survival strategies in the arctic by investigating the fire triangle and biological requirements for survival.
