Grand Re-Opening of USO Rock Island Center on Rock Island Arsenal with Army Community Services
Open House and Family Event featuring Figge Art Museum
ROCK ISLAND, IL– On Thursday, January 31, 2013, the USO of Illinois celebrates the expansion of its USO Rock Island facility on Rock Island Arsenalin partnership with Army Community Services. The new, 2,000-square foot space is offered as a 'home away from home' and military community center by the USO of Illinois and features a meeting space and lounge, reading library and resource center, computer lab with free WI-FI, cable TV and gaming console, snacks and refreshments and a children's play area. The newly renovated space, adjacent to Army Community Services (ACS), will work together with ACS as a special military community center, welcoming area active duty, guard and reserve military and their dependent family members, and retired military, a place of support with specialized programming and initiatives that lift morale, deliver comfort, provide resources and build strong community. USO Rock Island center embraces the HOOAH!Quad Cities initiative and hopes to build bridges of support and resource between area military communities, Rock Island Arsenal and the Quad Cities community-at-large.
TheGrand Re-Opening includes and Open House, featuring a special USO Discovery Kids event with Figge Art Museum called "Picture Our Littlest Heroes," sponsored by the Moline Foundation. Area military kids will learn about the art of portraiture as they create their own works of art to take home.
