Despite dropping its third game of the season at Peoria Notre Dame on Saturday, the Rock Island girls' basketball team remained sixth in The Associated Press Class 4A poll. The Rocks garnered 36 points from a statewide media panel.

Sherrard (No. 7) and Riverdale (No. 10) are rated in the Class 2A poll. Annawan (No. 2) and Prophetstown (No. 6) garnered rankings in Class 1A. Wethersfield is receiving votes in Class 1A.

On the boys' side, Rockridge (No. 4) and Monmouth-Roseville (No. 9) are rated in Class 2A, with Wethersfield (No. 9) ranked in 1A. Receiving votes in the boys' poll are Rock Island (Class 4A) and Kewanee (2A).

Chicago Whitney Young (Class 4A), Lombard Montini (3A), Champaign St. Thomas More (2A) and Freeport Aquin (1A) are the top-ranked girls' teams. Chicago Simeon (4A), Chicago Morgan Park (3A), Harrisburg (2A) and Woodlawn (1A) are rated No. 1 in the boys' poll.
