Jerome Harper
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and burial of cremains will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Jerome was born on Dec. 15, 1930, in Rock Island, the son of Roscoe C. and Rosine M. Borst Harper. He married Lois E. Hay on Jan. 31, 1976, in East Moline. She preceded him in death on June 9, 2011, in East Moline. He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as a combine repairman for John Deere. Jerome managed Hasty's Mobile and Wilson's DX. He started the St. Louis Cardinal Fan Club in the Quad-Cities. He also was a founding member of the King Pin's Car Club. Survivors include his sons, Lloyd Harper, Madison, Tenn., Dan Harper, Marion, Ohio, Ken (Beth) Harper, O'Fallon, Mo., Scott (Tracy) Harper, East Moline; stepdaughters, Pam (Harlan) Bachmeyer, Copeland, Texas, Teri Champion, North Port, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. 1988 -- 25 years ago: Hampton's sesquicentennial committee and the Hampton HistoricalSociety have scheduled a full slate of activities, which will be held throughout the year, to celebrate the village's 150th birthday. The first celebration will be the Memorial Dayprogram at 10 a.m. May 30, at the Brettun and Black Store Museum on River Road. Therewill be a sesquicentennial display.
