Beverly Birchell Zink, of 37424 Teaberry Loop, Zephyrhills, FL 33542, formerly of Viola, will celebrate her 80th birthday with an open house at Wedgewood Manor Clubhouse in Zephryhills on March 2, 2013, from 1 to 4 p.m. Friends and relatives are invited.
Beverly Anderson was born on Feb. 28, 1933, in New Windsor. She married Mannie Birchell on Aug. 2, 1950, and was married 52 years. She later married Robert Zink on Nov. 11, 2004. Both are deceased.
Beverly's children are Brenda (Ben) Knocke, Debra (John) McGaughy, Karen (Jack) Clark, Sandra (Ken) Benningfield and Cheryl (Ed) Oliver. She has 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
Beverly retired as a cashier from Publix Grocery, Zephyrhills, in 2003. She is a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Zephyrhills.

1964 — 50 years ago: Work is scheduled to begin this summer on construction of a new men's residence complex and an addition to the dining facilities at Westerlin Hall at Augustana College.
1989 — 25 years ago: Special Olympics competitors were triple winners at Rock Island High School Saturday. The participants vanquished the rain that fell during the competition, and some won their events; but most important, they triumphed over their own disabilities.
