Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at 9th Street Commons, 9th Street and 15th Avenue, East Moline, at 1 p.m. May 27.
Guest speaker will be William Albracht, a highly decorated Vietnam War veteran. He is the recipient of three silver stars, three purple hearts, five bronze stars as well as other awards for combat valor. The host post is the East Moline American Legion Post 227.

1989 -- 25 years ago: Of all the highlights of the last 12 years, this is the greatest of all, said Dennis Hitchcock, producer director of Circa '21 Dinner Playhouse, as he torched the mortgage, clearing a $220,000 loan financing the downtown Rock Island theater's beginnings in 1977.
