Edward D. Voorhees, 91, of Rock Island, passed away Monday April 22, 2013, at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island.
Per his wishes, there will be no services.
He was born May 7, 1921, in Henderson County, Ill., to George W. and Marion Barnett Voorhees.
He had tended bar at the former Marando's Supper Club, Milan, Hunters Club, Rock Island, Oakwood Country Club, Coal Valley.
He is survived by his sister, Mildred Palmer, Canton, Ill.; two nephews, Palmer Voorhees, St. Louis, John Voorhees, Oneida; and stepson, Russell Hoover, Milan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Voorhees; daughter, Patricia Lehman; brother, John.

1989 -- 25 years ago: Fort Armstrong hotel once the wining and dining chambers of Rock Island's elite is under repair. Progress is being made though at a seeming snail's pace to return the building to a semblance of its past glory for senior citizen's homes.
