Go out for breakfast this morning
MOLINE -- Community of Christ Church, 1525 48th St. Place, will host a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. today.
Tickets will cost $5 per person.
Breakfast will include a stack of three pancakes, scrambled eggs, two sausage links and a drink. Baked goods also will be sold.
The church is next door to Wilson Middle School in Moline.

Free family portraits taken on Mother's Day
MOLINE --Memorial Christian Church, 1624 Avenue of the Cities, will provide free family portraits for Mother's Day.
Picture taking will begin at 9 a.m., followed by worship services at 10:30, on Sunday, May 12.
Every family present can get a free family portrait, taken by professional photographer Stephen Folker, of Giraffe Photography.

Choral arts concert planned
DAVENPORT --Quad City Choral Arts will present a 3 p.m. concert on Sunday, May 12, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2136 N. Brady St.
The concert will feature excerpts from J.S. Bach's "St. John Passion" and his entire "Cantata BWV4," "Christ lag in Todesbanden."
Soloists will include Timothy Stalter, professor and director of choral activities at the University of Iowa, and Augustana music faculty members Michelle Crouch, Howard Eckdahl, Sonja Hurty and Saul Nache.

Spring revival hits higher heights
DAVENPORT -- The Higher Heights Missionary Baptist Church will hold its Annual Spring Revival beginning Wednesday, May 15, and continuingthrough Friday, May 17.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. at at Jefferson Edison Elementary School, 1027 Marquette St., Davenport.
Guest evangelist will be the Rev. Tyrone Miller, of Union HillMissionary Baptist Church in Shelby, Miss.
Revival theme will be "Tearing Down the Old and Building Up the New," based on a Scriptural reference of Judges 6:25-26.

EAST MOLINE -- The East Moline/Silvis Kiwanis Club will host a flea market from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at the Rock Island County Fairgrounds, 4300 Archer Drive.
Proceeds will benefit local and international children's projects.

Enjoy an "altar crawl" of six historic churches
DAVENPORT -- A Hilltop Campus Village "Altar Crawl'' will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 19.
Six Davenport churches -- Bethel A.M.E., First Baptist, First Christian, First Presbyterian, St. John's United Methodist and Trinity Episcopal -- will have their doors open for visitors to tour.

Multiple Sclerosis walk slated
BETTENDORF -- An annual Multiple Sclerosis benefit walk will be held on Saturday, May 18, at Veterans Memorial Park, 1645 23rd St.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by a kick-off program at 10, and the three-mile walk.

Handbells ring out at Augustana College
ROCK ISLAND -- The new Quad City Community RiverBend Bronze Community Handbell ensemble will perform its premier concert at 3 p.m. on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 12, at Augustana College's Ascension Chapel, on the second floor of Founder's Hall, at 820 38th St.
The free concert will be followed by a Mother's Day dessert reception. A free-will offering will be accepted.

Ride with Jesus to Aledo Methodist
ALEDO -- Aledo United Methodist Church, 301 N. College Ave., will perform a classic rock musical titled "Free Ride: The Irresistible Ride of Jesus Christ," at 7 p.m. today and at 2 p.m. on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 12.
All mothers attending Sunday's performance will get a special gift.
Doors will open one hour before show time.

Couples invited to celebrate golden anniversaries
REYNOLDS -- Antioch Baptist Church, 170th Avenue and 150th Street, will hold the 64th annual Golden Anniversary Celebration, for people married for more than 50 years, at noon, Wednesday, May 15.
