Helen Gale, Silvis, formerly of East Moline, is celebrating her 80th birthday with an open house at Christ United Methodist Church, 3801 7th St., East Moline. It will be held on Saturday, March 8, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Please join her for some cake to celebrate her special birthday. In lieu of gifts, you can choose to bring a canned item for the food pantry at Christ United, where she and her late husband, Jim, have volunteered for many years.
Helen was born on March 5, 1934. She married James Gale on April 10, 1954. He passed away on April 28, 2013.
They had three sons, Robert (deceased); David (MaryAnne) and Tom (Jan). They have four grandchildren, Sam (Lora), Jamie, Erika and Ben.
