Evelyn Haronik celebrated her 95th birthday on Feb. 18.
Evelyn was born in 1919 in Coal Valley, the daughter of Oscar and Minnie Mandel. She married Alvin Haronik in 1938 in Milan. He passed away on Jan. 30, 1985.
Her family includes sons, James, Moline; Martin, Milan; John, Sacramento, Calif.; and daughters, Sr. Veronica Haronik, St. Louis; Kathryn Hall, Silvis; Beverly Rausch, Edina, Minn.; Cynthia Sullivan, Moline; and the late Theresa VanLandegen, Aledo; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Richard Evans, John Harris, George Crampton and William Getz, all of Moline, Charles Roberts, Rock Island, and Charles Johnson, of Hampton.
1989 -- 25 years ago: Indian summer is quickly disappearing as temperatures slide into the 40s and 50s this week. Last week, highs were in the 80s.
