William Thorndyke, 79, formerly of Muscatine, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, in Rock Island. Services are 2:30 p.m., Tuesday at Runge, Davenport. Visitation is 12:30 p.m. to services. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park.
He was born in Muscatine. He married Barbara Woods in 1956 in Muscatine. She died in 1995.
He worked at the Rock Island Arsenal.
Survivors are kids, Penny, Debbie Robbins, Barbara, Ely, Thersa and Joshua; 33 special grandchildren; sister, Nancy; and brother, Pete.
