09/21/2014, 8:54 pm Irene E. Schroeder, 86, of Bettendorf, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at Bettendorf Health Care Center.
Following cremation, in accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice. Online condolences may be expressed at rungemortuary.com.
She was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Eldon, Iowa, a daughter of William and Ethel Hart Allman. On Sept. 4, 1948, she married Richard C. Schroeder in Davenport. He preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 2005.
Mrs. Schroeder was formerly employed by Peterson-Harned-Von Maur in the drapery department. Later, she was employed in the state of Wyoming as a cook for the school system. Her memberships included St. John's United Methodist Church in Davenport, the Wheatland (Wyo.) United Methodist Church and the TOPS Club. She enjoyed cooking and sewing.
Survivors include her children, Gary (Maria) Schroeder, Mississippi, Grieg (Diane) Schroeder, Wyoming, Diane (Greg) Merry, Davenport, and Allen (Sherry) Schroeder, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Anderson, Silvis. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Schroeder; sisters, Mildred and Ruth; and brothers, Paul and Orville.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony's Church, Davenport. Burial is at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport.
Don was born Jan. 10, 1929. He married Mary Elizabeth Brennan on Aug. 29, 1953. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are children, Don Jr., Mike, Bill, Beth Seeman, Tim and Kate Wells; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Sister Marcia Costello, CHM.

Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Runge, Davenport. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Runge. Burial is at Dixon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Dixon American Legion.
She was born Oct. 21, 1912, in Dixon, Iowa, to Simon and Mamie Arnold Snyder. She married William E. Britton on July 16, 1934. He died in 1998.
She was employed by Children and Family Services until her retirement in 1982.
Survivors include daughters, Peggy (Dale) Wiese and Joyce Corken; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

09/21/2014, 8:54 pm Funeral services for Donald E. Doye Jr., 78, of Moline, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline.
Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Doye died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Don was born Oct. 20, 1935, in Kewanee, the son of Donald E. Sr. and Alice Hotz Doye. He was a graduate of Sherrard High School Class of 1953. He married Virginia Boggs on July 28, 1956, in East Moline. She died Feb. 12, 2000.
He retired as a supervisor from John Deere Harvester, East Moline, in 1986, after 29 years of service. After retirement, he had worked various jobs to keep busy. He had last worked at Mutual Wheel, Moline. Don enjoyed sports in general and had been a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
Survivors include his daughters, Karen Young, Rock Island, Cheryl (Tim) Frame, Bettendorf, and Beth Ann (Robert) Ciesla, Schaumburg, Ill.; son, Steven (Susan) Doye, Moline; grandchildren, Darren Doye, Logan and Lauren Frame, Lindsay and Christopher Nowachek, Adam, Kaitlyn and Jacklyn Young; sister, Joyce Stephens, Coal Valley; and brother, William (Ginger) Doye, Kewanee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother-in-law, Darwin Stephens; and nephew, James K. Stephens.
Memorials may be made to Hope Creek Activity Fund or Black Hawk Area Educational Center, East Moline.

Services for Bill will be noon on Tuesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post No. 246.
Bill was born on Aug. 23, 1931, in Tazewell County, Va. He married Vendetta Asbury on Dec. 23, 1953, in Virginia. Bill worked as a meat cutter at the 20th Street Market in Rock Island. He attended Westside Assembly of God Church, Davenport. Bill was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Vendetta; daughter, Sharon Kennedy, Reynolds; a son, Billy (Marilyn) Strong, Rock Island; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Martin, West Virginia.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Susie Strong and Dorothy Pack.
