Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic, Davenport, with visitation 9 a.m. to services. Burial is at Holy Family Cemetery, Davenport.
He was born April 5, 1943, in Brighton, Iowa, to Virgil and Barbara Meek. He married Dorothy Testroet Nov. 9, 1968.
Surviving are his wife; son, Douglas (Kimberly), Iowa City; and brothers, Donald, Donahue and Michael, Princeton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by son Gregory in 2007.

She was born Dec 25, 1935.
Surviving are her children, Karyn Yets, Bettendorf, Michael and Timothy, Milwaukee; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her brothers, George Gunkel, Florida, and Keith Gunkel, Wisconsin.

She was born July 27, 1926. She married John Freiburger in 1960. He died in 2006.
Surviving are her children, Patricia, Kathy, Richard, Penny, Peggy, Patricia, John and Mike; 30 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a sister; and a brother.

She was born May 12, 1938, in Kewanee, to John and Nannie Failon Foley. She married Robert Allen Piester July 9, 1955. He died in 2005.
Surviving are her children, Robin Cooper, Prophetstown, Michael, Lyndon, Ill., and John, Prophetstown; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

07/31/2014, 6:58 pm Rita L. Anderson, 82, of Silvis, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Aspen Rehab & Health Care, Silvis.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, 1301 4th St., Orion. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery.
Rita was born on Sept. 19, 1931, in Coal Valley, the daughter of Rynold and Vera Lanham Krapp. She married John W. Anderson on April 20, 1953, at Church of the Vale in Centerville, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 28, 1967.
Survivors include children, Nancy (Richard) Norin, Hampton, Tim Anderson, Hampton, and Diane (James) Larvenz, Hillsdale; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Linda, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Evelyn Holliday.

07/31/2014, 6:58 pm Kirk Douglas Wicks, 63, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at UnityPoint Health–Trinity Rock Island.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial of cremains will be at Moline Memorial Park at a later date. Memorials may be made to Alleman High School or to the family for kidney research in the Quad-Cities.
Kirk was born on April 9, 1951, in Moline, the son of Harold V. and Mary J. Britson Wicks. He graduated from Moline High School in 1969, Black Hawk College in 1976, and SIU Carbondale in 1980 with a degree in industrial engineering. He married Novella Jean Drish on Oct. 18, 1980.
Kirk worked for John Deere Harvester East Moline from January of 1975 until he retired from the measurement lab in June of 2010. He always said he knew that plant like the back of his hand and was proud to work for Deere & Co., as did his father. He was a member of the UAW Local 865. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline and then Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline.
In his early years, Kirk loved racing with his good friends, Lee and Al Otis. He especially loved racing his '69 Firebird. Kirk loved the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed boating on the Rock River and Mississippi River.
He was quite a character and could make conversation with anyone he met. More than anything, Kirk loved his family, friends and the family schnauzer, Enzo. His children were the loves of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Novella Wicks, Rock Island; children, Douglas (Amber) Wicks, Bettendorf, and Natalie Wicks, Rock Island; two stepgrandsons, Gabriel and Roman; brothers, Steven Wicks, Moline, and Kevin (Julie) Wicks, Keller, Texas; nieces, Jennifer Bartz and D'Ann Lorentzen; and nephews, Kyle, Grant, Dane and Seth Wicks. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Susan.
The family would like to send a special thank you to UnityPoint Health–Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island Nursing & Rehab 2nd Floor Unit, Dr. Alla and Dr. Dahal and the Kidney Center Team, and Dr. David Peterson. They would also like to thank his very dear friends, Tom Lagomarcino and family, Brian Cunningham, Pete Vogel, and Lee and Al Otis for their loving care and support.

John Henry was born March 6, 1958, in Moline, the son of Kenneth Sr. and Shirley Mangels Schroeder.
John Henry was an active outdoorsman who loved nature.
Survivors include his mother, Shirley Schroeder, Rock Island; sisters, Mary (Roger) Vaughn, Aledo, Nancy Payne, Rock Island, and Julie (William) Martin, Alpha; brothers, George (Tracy) Schroeder, Colona, and Thomas Schroeder, Rock Island; and a very special friend, Brenda Zinger, Davenport. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie; and brothers, Kenneth Jr. and Tim.

07/31/2014, 6:58 pm Roxanne "Rox" M. Borkhardt, 50, of Moline, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, surrounded by her family and friends at home after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at Heritage Church, 4801 44th St., Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. In lieu of flowers, Rox would like for memorials to be made to her family for a fund to be established for her children.
Rox was born on Jan. 24, 1964, in Moline, the daughter of Don and Pat David Short. She married Jerry Borkhardt on May 15, 1997, in Moline. She worked as a medical office assistant for Dr. Brunjhens in Davenport.
Rox enjoyed reading scriptures and was a member of Heritage Church. She also enjoyed watching her children play sports. More than anything, Rox loved her family, especially her children. She will forever be deeply missed.
Survivors include her loving husband, Jerry; children, Jordan Borkhardt and Lauren Borkhardt; stepdaughters, Corie (Marcus) Gunther, Mission Viejo, Calif., and Kelli Borkhardt, Moline; grandson, Finn Gunther, Mission Viejo; mother and father, Don and Pat Short, Milan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
