09/30/2014, 5:57 pm William J. "Bill" Schroeder, 80, of Davenport, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic, Davenport. Burial is at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport.
He was born June 7, 1934, to John and Pauline Schroeder. He married Myra Hamann on Oct. 15, 1955.
Surviving are his wife; daughters, Sue Uzzo, Beth Schroeder, Jane Molohon and Kara Sturdevant; seven grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Porter.

After cremation, visitation is 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Runge, Davenport. Inurnment is 11 a.m. at Davenport Memorial Park.
She was born Dec. 11, 1941, to Anthony and Irma Zinger. She married Robert Stewart. Later she married Ralph McComber. They preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children and spouses, Terry and Linda McComber, Robert, Stewart, Julie and Don Singleton and Daniel Stewart; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five siblings.

Graveside services with military honors will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Vandemore, Geneseo, is assisting the family.
He was born Sept. 14, 1922, in New City, Ill., to Silis and Olive Jackson Williams. He married Dorothy I. VanDamme Keemle on Feb. 24, 1964. She died in 2010.
Survivors include son, Thomas, Fombell, Pa.; daughter, Marilyn; stepdaughters, Patricia (James) Turner, Cambridge, Carol Sue VanOpdorp, Annawan, and Tracy Trochelman, Texas; several grandchildren and stepgrandchildren.

Cremation has been accorded. Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Messiah Lutheran, Galva. Inurnment is at Galva Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rux, Galva.
He was born July 18, 1942, in Galva.
Surviving are his brother, Dale, nephew, Ron, nieces, Sherrie Rohrig, all of Galva, and Susan Olander, Lake Worth, Fla.; several great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; and partner, William Criger, Alexandria.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Tharp Funeral Home, Albia, with Pastor Richard Grimes officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Lovilia, Iowa. 09/30/2014, 5:57 pm Bernard H. Huizenga, 77, of Geneseo, passed away Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo.
A graveside service celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Geneseo Senior Citizens Center. Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bernard was born March 28, 1937, in Yorktown, Ill., the son of Jacob and Edna Stahl Huizenga. He was a graduate of Geneseo High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was united in marriage to Bev Ackerman and later separated.
Bernard worked at Rock Island Arsenal for 26 years, retiring in 1988. He was a past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Bernard was also an accomplished pool player, winning numerous trophies throughout the U.S.
Survivors include his stepsons, Zach (Roni) Perrine, Geneseo, Luke (Theresa) Perrine, Colorado; grandson, Tyler Perrine; sister, Carol Clark, Geneseo; brother, Delbert (Phyllis) Huizenga, Chesapeake, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his niece, Becky Clark; and his nephew, Brion Huizenga.

09/30/2014, 5:57 pm Jacquelynn E. "Jackie" Cantero, 69, of Sheffield, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at Hammond-Henry Hospital emergency room, Geneseo.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Bunker Hill Church of God in Buda, Ill. The Rev. John Erickson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. As she wished, cremation rites have been accorded. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Geneseo, is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jackie Cantero Memorial Fund.
Jackie was born Sept. 26, 1945, in Rock Island, the daughter of Lawrence and Josephine Ellen Ransom Harlan. She was a 1963 graduate of Atkinson High School and went on to earn her nursing degree. She proudly served in the U.S. Army as a nurse during the Vietnam War. She worked as a registered nurse and third-shift charge nurse at Shiprock Medical Center at Navajo Indian Reservation in New Mexico. She loved horses and collecting Navajo art. She was a generous person, taking care of homeless animals and helping people.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura (William) Summy, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy (Dale) DeMay, Sheffield, Rebecca Hathaway, Sheffield; brother, Ron L. (Marsha) Hathaway, Decatur, Ala.; nieces, Maeckenzie and Kaleena; lifelong friends, Cindi Averill, Cortez, Colo., Vicki Shaw Schieb, Shenandoah, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Richard.

09/30/2014, 5:57 pm Andrew Scott "Andy" Adams, 21, of Orion, formerly of Geneseo, passed away Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Orion United Methodist Church. The Rev. David Schultz will officiate. A visitation for Andy will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Vandemore Funeral Homes, Geneseo. Cremation rites will be accorded after the services, and private inurnment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Andy Adams Memorial Fund at IH Mississippi Valley Credit or left at the funeral home.
Andy was born March 9, 1993, in Moline, the son of Troy Adams and Melissa Scott. He attended Geneseo and Princeton high schools and then graduated from Orion High School in 2011. Andy was attending Scott Community College in Davenport and working at the Texas Roadhouse.
Andy was a kind and loving son, who loved life and lived life with a huge heart of gold. Respected and well-liked by all who knew him, Andy's friendships were easily made wherever he lived.
He was a talented athlete and participated in multiple sports – football, baseball, tennis, track, cross country, golf, soccer and his favorite, basketball. He played on the Orion High School team that won the 2011 Class 1A Sectional title and advanced to the state quarterfinals for the first time ever. He was awarded the Pacesetter award by The Moline Dispatch his senior year for his accomplishments and awarded All State Basketball Honors by the AP. Andy was also nominated to the Orion High School Homecoming Court his senior year. He enjoyed following and attending Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals games with family. One of the greatest highlights of Andy's life was just this past March when his uncle Tim surprised him by taking him to the March Madness Final Four game in Houston, Texas.
It was Andy's dream to someday be a coach and teacher. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. As grief-stricken as we are, it's a great comfort knowing that Andy and his best friend Danny DeBacker are together.
Survivors include his mother, Melissa Scott, Orion; his father, Troy Adams, Sherrard; sister and best friend, Molly Adams, Orion; paternal grandparents, Pam and Ken Adams, Matherville; uncle, Tim Scott, Princeton, Ill. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Nancy and Jack Scott, Princeton, Ill.

09/30/2014, 5:57 pm Deborah Covault, 61, of Silvis, passed away Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at her home.
As she wished, cremation rites were accorded and there will be no services. Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, is assisting her family with arrangements.
Deborah was born Nov. 16, 1952, in Moline, the daughter of Jack Engels and Barbara Andrew and was later adopted by her stepfather, Roy Andrew. She married Gary Covault on Oct. 10, 1987, in Prospect Park, Moline.
She worked in the judge's administration office at the Rock Island County Courthouse. Her hobbies included crafts, sewing, cooking and baking.
Survivors include her husband, Gary; daughter, Lisa Enderle, Kansas City, Kan.; son, Chad Enderle, Madison, Wis.; six grandchildren; brothers, Wayne Andrew, Hawaii, Gary and Paul Andrew, both of East Moline. Deborah was preceded in death by both parents.
