Alfred was born in Davenport.
He is survived by his wife, Nanette Voss; his mother, Mary Brackevelt; five children; three sisters; and many grandchildren.

Graveside services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Bosma-Renkes, Morrison. Cremation rites were accorded.
She was born April 3, 1943, in Charleston, W.Va., to Chester and Julia Shea Platt. She married Thomas L. Vogel on Sept. 29, 1962.
Surviving are her husband; sons, Bryan and Terry, Morrison; granddaughter, Gracie; brothers, Jim Platt and Dick Platt.

08/17/2014, 7:32 pm Jeffrey A. "Jeff" Mayhugh, a resident of Notasulga, Ala., formerly of Colona, passed away Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at the age of 51.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m., from Jeffcoat Funeral Home Chapel, Tallasee, Ala., with Pastor Lucy Gosa and Pastor Billy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
In 1981, Jeff graduated from United Township High School in East Moline, and joined the Marines Corps. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend.
Mr. Mayhugh is survived by his wife, Catherine Mayhugh; daughter, Ashley Mayhugh; son, Cristan Mayhugh; granddaughters, Breanna Mayhugh and Izabella Mayhugh-Cantu; parents, Willard "Jerry" and Opal Mayhugh; sister, Michelle "Shelly" Grant (Jack); nephews, David Schwartz (Crystal) and Jacob Mayhugh; and grandmother, Marrilee Lounsberry.

08/17/2014, 7:32 pm Funeral services for Wendell Dillavou, 94, of Aledo, will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo.
Burial with military honors will be at Candor Cemetery, rural Seaton. Visitation is Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m., with Masonic services at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Center Presbyterian Church or Mercer County Historical Society.
Wendell died Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at Genesis Senior Living, Aledo.
Wendell was born on April 29, 1920, in Lee County, Iowa, to Edgar C. and Viola Murray Dillavou. He was united in marriage to Fern Jones on May 3, 1941, in Wilton, Iowa.
Wendell was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1943-1946 as a staff sergeant in the Philippines during World War II. He farmed in the Aledo and Seaton area for 60 years and also enjoyed carpentry. Wendell was a member of the Mercer County VFW Post No. 1571 (lifetime member); American Legion Falleren Post No. 121, where he was the oldest World War II member; Mercer County Historical Society, where he served on the board; Center Presbyterian Church, where he served as elder; Aledo Masonic Lodge; Royal Arch at Monmouth; Illinois Council at Knoxville; Commandry at Galesburg and a member of the KYCH. Wendell also enjoyed spending time collecting and restoring antiques.
Those left to cherish Wendell's memory include his wife of 73 years, Fern; four sons and their spouses, Bill and Kay Dillavou, Cochise, Ariz., Robert Dillavou, Forreston, Ill., Ronn and Pam Dillavou, Aledo, and the Rev. Don and Marlene Dillavou, Hamilton, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two nieces, Kay Dillavou Lyon and Delores Ruschill. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Raymond and Merle Dillavou.

08/17/2014, 7:32 pm Michael A. Cappaert, 53, East Moline, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at his home.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
Mike was born on March 21, 1961, in Moline, the son of Richard and Eleanor Haase Cappaert. He graduated from United Township High School, East Moline.
Mike had worked as an installer for car phones when they were actually mounted in cars. Most recently had been doing home improvement work. He loved working with his hands and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his mother, Ele, East Moline; sister, Cindi (Mark) Gast, Coal Valley; brother, Rick (Linda) Cappaert, Chesterfield, Mo.; and nieces, Elyssa and Rebecca.
He was preceded in death by his father; and his dog, LeRoy.
The family would like to thank Dr. Spector and his staff for their exceptional care, Beacon of Hope Hospice, especially Cindy and Shannon, and Laura Meyers-DePaepe for her tender care.
