Air Force basic training

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Area service members have graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

*Air Force Airman Matthew Martin is the son of John Martin, Morrison, and Cathy James, Sterling. He is a 2009 graduate of Morrison High School.

*Air Force Airman 1st Class Michael Thune is the son of Randy Thune, Blue Grass, and Sherri Spray, Keithsburg. He is a 2007 graduate of Bettendorf High School and received an associate degree in 2008 from Kaplan University, Davenport.

*Air Force Airman Stephen Tessier, son of Anthony and LeeAnn Tessier, Kewanee, is a 2009 graduate of Wethersfield High School, Kewanee.

*Air Force Airman Dustin Jones, son of Jack Jones and Kimberly Jones, both of Morrison, is a 2008 graduate of Morrison High School.

Nicholas Sommers

DAVENPORT --- Army Reserve Sgt. Nicholas Sommers, East Moline, has returned to the U.S. after being deployed overseas at a forward operating base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. Sommers, a maximum security guard, is a member of the 339th Military Police Company, based in Davenport. He has seven years of military service.

The sergeant is a 2001 graduate of Moline High School.

Alexander Evans

BILOXI, Miss. -- Air Force Airman Alexander Evans, son of Anna Evans, East Moline, has graduated from the Ground Radio Communications Equipment Apprentice Course at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss.

The airman is a 2009 graduate of United Township High School, East Moline.
