1912 -- 100 years ago: Residents of South Rock Island Township are seeking to have the township school district annexed to Rock Island Township.
1937 -- 75 years ago: Women drivers of taxi-cabs are an innovation in Rock Island. An official of a taxi firm that is training girls to replace men drivers says the venture is proving successful.
1962 -- 50 years ago: A group of 75 members of the Pilot and Zonta Clubs of Rock Island and Moline held a joint dinner-meeting last night at the Short Hills Country Club, East Moline. The Pilot Club of Moline was host for the event. Both organizations are classified service clubs for business and professional women.
1987 -- 25 years ago: With more than 176 entries, tomorrow's second annual St. Patrick's Day Grand Parade is predicted to be the largest parade ever to march through the Quad-Cities.
