Due to additional roadway excavation for the Forest Road and River Drive Sanitary Sewer Separation Project, the existing Traffic Control Setup will be modified. Beginning Tuesday evening on May 8, 2012 after rush hour traffic or before Wednesday morning, River Dr. will be completely closed from the eastern city limits to just west of Forest Road. The road is expected to be reopened Friday, May 11th. The detour route for the closure will be as follows:
Westbound ALL – Kimberly Rd. (Bett.) to Locust Street, to Harrison Street, to River Drive.
Eastbound Cars – River Drive to Bridge Avenue, to Locust Street, to Kimberly Road (Bett.).
Eastbound "High" Trucks – Brady Street to 3rd Street, to Iowa Street, to 6th Street, back to Brady Street, to Locust to Kimberly Road (Bett.).
Eastbound "Low" Trucks – Brady Street to Locust Street, to Kimberly Road (Bett.).
Beginning Wednesday, May 9th, two lanes on the west side of Harrison St. will be closed between 31st and 35th St. The closure is necessary in order for a private contractor to repair a temporary patch. The lanes are expected to be reopened on Thursday, May10th.
Also, beginning Wednesday, May 9th, the eastbound lanes of West Locust between Washington and Sturdevant will be closed for sewer repairs. Traffic will run head to head in the westbound lanes. Crews expect to reopen the lanes by the weekend.
And finally, starting May 7th, Grove Street between N Lincoln Ave and N Pine St will be closed for sanitary sewer repairs until further notice.
