1862 -- 150 years ago: Hon. Joshua A. Hatch of Des Moines, former mayor of this city, but now a state senator from Polk County, Iowa, is stopping here for a short visit on his way home from Washington.

1887 -- 125 years ago: Plans are under way for a railroad bridge over the Mississippi River to be located downstream from the present bridge and to be used by the Burlington and Milwaukee railroads.

1912 -- 100 years ago: James W. Maucher last night was elected president of the Rock Island High School Alumni Association. A dance was planned June 8 at Watch Tower Inn.

1937 -- 75 years ago: The Peoples Power Co. has taken an option on a site at 18th Street and 4th Avenue for a new building.

1962 -- 50 years ago: The Rock Island Chapter Chorus, Society for the Preservation and

Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America Inc., will appear in "Melodies in Motion," the annual spring program of the local chapter, Sunday in Augustana Centennial Hall. Featured attraction will be the appearance of the Buffalo Bills, famed quartet of the original Broadway musical, "The Music Man."
