Man behind large-scale marijuana operation gets 15 years in prison

A Davenport man was sentenced Friday to 15 years and three months in federal prison for his role in a large-scale marijuana trafficking operation in Davenport.
Tyrell Carr, 36, will also have to serve five years of supervised release following his sentence, according to a news release from the Nicholas Klinefeldt, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa. Mr. Carr pleaded guilty Nov. 30. to one count of conspiracy to distribute at least 1,000 kilograms of marijuana.
The release stated that various cooperating witnesses informed police that Mr. Carr had been involved in marijuana trafficking in Davenport since 2007. During the course of the investigation, law enforcement officials learned that he distributed at least 31,000 kilograms of marijuana.
