CAMBRIDGE - Shea Blumenshein, 25, of Colona has been charged with Class X felony aggravated battery of a child under 13.

Henry County Circuit Court Judge Dana McReynolds set bail at $75,000. Mr. Blumenshein posted $7,500 bond Tuesday.

Wednesday, he waived a preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty. A Sept. 20 pretrial hearing was set. His attorney is Thomas Skorepa of Rock Island.

According to the charge, Mr. Blumenshein is alleged to have caused great bodily harm to a child on Aug. 12, when he slammed the child into a bassinet, hitting the child's head on a metal rod that caused a skull fracture and subdural hematoma.

He was ordered to have no contact with the victim.
