Gas line break leads to short building evacuation at Augie
Comment on this story
The Augustana College Library and two dormitories were briefly evacuated this afternoon when construction crews working struck a natural gas pipe.
The leak was quickly capped and the buildings are back in use.
The pipe was broken during construction of the new Art Center for Student Life building, which will be connected to the Thomas Tredway Library.
Augustana College public relations director Keri Rursch said Mid-American Energy responded very quickly "We are very grateful," she said.
