1862 -- 150 years ago: Thomas Butler and his wife have been complained of before Esquire Swander for whipping Peter Hegan's little boy. The boy called Mrs. B. hard names and Mr. B. slapped him. Verdict was "served him right."
1887 -- 125 years ago: The Rock Island Glass works plant resumed operations today following settlement of a strike.
1912 -- 100 years ago: An illustrated folder describing Rock Island as an ideal place for conventions has been published by the Chamber of Commerce.
1937 -- 75 years ago: The recently constructed First Presbyterian Church in Rock Island was dedicated yesterday afternoon.
