2012 Fall Scott County Snapshot Event
A day of water quality monitoring
OCTOBER 9, 9 a.m. - Noon
Bettendorf Fire Station
5002 Crow Creek Rd, Bettendorf
Tuesday, October 9 at 9 a.m., 2012 Fall Scott County Snapshot Event at will be held at the Bettendorf Fire Station, 5002 Crow Creek Rd, Bettendorf, to monitor Scott County streams, creeks, wetlands and rivers. Lunch will be provided at no charge following the monitoring.
Volunteers are welcome.
A brief oreintation will begin at 9am at the Bettendorf Fire Station, 5002 Crow Creek Rd, Bettendorf. Volunteers will then disperse around the county to sample the water quality of Scott County waterways. Volunteers monitor for transparency, water temperature, pH, Nitrite and Nitrate, Dissolved Oxygen, Phosphate and Chloride. As well, they gather samples to be sent into a lab for bacteria testing and make observations about activities and land uses surrounding the waterbody.
The Scott County Snapshot Event engages residents in water quality through a user friendly, process for data collection. Also, the collected data provides a "snapshot" of the water quality in Scott County.
