The Iowa Mission of Mercy free dental clinic will be held today and Saturday at the RiverCenter, 136 E. 3rd St., Davenport.

The fifth annual event offers free cleanings, extractions and fillings to those in need. There are no restrictions, but patients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis. The clinic will close for the day once it reaches its capacity, according to a news release.

Clinic hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, but doors will close whenever the capacity is reached.

According to the release, the Iowa Mission of Mercy has provided more than $3.5 million in free dental care to nearly 5,600 patients since 2008.

"Oral health care is critical to the overall health of all Iowans," the news release states. "The Iowa Mission of Mercy is an opportunity for Iowa dentists to provide access to quality health care to the Iowans who need it the most."
