Milan will hold a ribbon cutting for its new bike path at 3 p.m. Tuesday on the path behind Subway restaurant at 313 1st Ave.
The 1.5-mile section runs from Mill Creek Bridge on Airport Road, east past the steel dam to Veterans Memorial Bridge at Carr's Crossing, where it will connect to the Moline and Rock Island bike paths.
The newly resurfaced section is a mile long and runs from the U.S. 67 Bridge to Mill Creek behind Erickson Chevrolet.
Part of the project included a 25- to 30-space parking lot between Subway and EZ-Livin' Sports Center, 231 West 1st Ave.
According to the village officials, 50 percent of the $307,852 cost of the path was funded with a grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the rest with Build America Bonds.
The ribbon cutting will end with a commemorative ride along the path, so everyone is encouraged to bring their bicycles.
