Works by Cedar River Artisans on exhibit at BHC The ArtSpace Gallery at Black Hawk College is showcasing Guitar Voices by Cedar River Artisans through Friday, Dec. 7. The exhibit includes a diverse range of media by Cedar Rapids, Iowa, area artists Bryan Davis, Dean Dunkel, Michelle Paulos Fischer, Julia Kottal, Nancy Lindsay, Tom Newport and Elizabeth Rhoads Read. BHC closed Nov. 12 for Veterans Day

All Black Hawk College locations and facilities will be closed Monday, Nov. 12 in observance of Veterans Day.

Experience the music of India Nov. 15 at BHC

Experience the music of India when musicians John Wubbenhorst and Samrat Kakkeri perform North Indian ragas on the bansuri (North Indian bamboo flute) and tabla (drum) at Black Hawk College.

Their performance will be from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15 in Building 1, Room 306 (auditorium) at the Quad-Cities Campus in Moline. Admission is free.

Participants will learn how to put their unwanted items for sale on the online auction site.

The class will meet from 5:30-7 p.m. Mondays, Nov. 19 to Dec. 10, at the college's Adult Learning Center in Rock Island. Cost is $33.

The Black Hawk College class Fall Centerpiece will be from 5:45-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19 at Lutheran Social Services in Moline. Cost is $21 plus a $35 materials fee.

Explore Japanese pop culture

Do you like Japanese anime, manga or songs? Discover how popular culture is changing Japanese society in the Black Hawk College class, Introduction to the Japanese Pop Culture.

The class will be taught by a native of Japan. It will meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Nov. 20 to Dec. 11, at the college's Quad-Cities Campus in Moline.

Cost is $55 for residents of the Black Hawk College district. Call for out-of-district rates.

Learn the basics of e-mail in the beginner-level E-mailing Basics class at Black Hawk College.

Students will learn how to send, save and forward messages and more.

This Golden Opportunities class is designed for those 55 years and older, but all adult learners are welcome.

It will be from 12:15-2:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26 at the college's Outreach Center in East Moline. Cost is $15.
