Shane Themas was named LeClaire's new police chief at Monday night's city council meeting.

Mr. Themas became interim police chief in August 2011 after the retirement of Chief James Pfeiffer. He remained in the position through April and was reinstated to the post in August by Mayor Bob Scannell, according to a news release.

An 11-year member of the police department, Mr. Themas was named a sergeant in 2009.
