J. Russell Vaky, 100, passed away on Oct. 29, 2012, at his birth city of Champaign, Ill. On Nov. 3, he would have been 101.
He was a resident of Rock Island for many years, caring for his sister, Alpha Wingard. During those years, he was a frequent benefactor to Augustana College, Rock Island Library and the Franklin Wingard Pre Law Award fund and many others here and around the world.
