Jose "Ralph" Villagomez, 85, of Moline, passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at St. Francis, Peoria, Ill.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at Christ the King Church, Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111 1st St. A, Moline, with a Christian wake service at 4 p.m. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with military honors by American Legion Post 246. Memorials can be made to Gigi's Downs Syndrome Awareness Center, Moline.
Ralph was born Dec. 3, 1926, in Moline, the son of Enrique and Carmen Ortiz Villagomez. He was married on Aug. 24, 1957, in Moline to his wife of 55 years, Josephine Llaca.
Ralph was a United States Veteran having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked at the former John Deere Plow Planter Works, Moline, retiring in 1987, after 23 years of service.
Ralph was a member of Christ the King Church, Moline, and the Moline Lions Club. He enjoyed his morning breakfasts at Hy-Vee, and he loved searching for a bargain.
Survivors (and spouse) include his wife, Josephine; daughter, Juanita (Gary) Ghere, Bettendorf, and Susan Villagomez, Moline; son, the Rev. Ray Villagomez, Moline; sisters, Aurora Navarro, Moline, Rachel Garcia, Mexico, Carolina Villagomez, Mexico; brothers, Vincent Villagomez, Houston, Texas, Ramon Villagomez, San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Ashley, Alex and Caitlin Ghere. He was preceded in death by his parents.
