Judith Ann Cox, 66, of Champaign, Ill., passed away at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at her residence.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Faith United Methodist Church, 1719 S. Prospect in Champaign. Officiating will be the Rev. Wes Wilkey. A graveside service will be at Zuma Cemetery in Port Byron, at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Champaign-Urbana Chapel 710 N. Neil St., Champaign. Memorials may be made to the Ken and Judy Cox Scholarship at the Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary or the Preacher's Aid Society.
Judy was born on June 26, 1946, in Moline, the daughter of Melville H. and Jeanne O. Henss Miller. They preceded her in death. She married Kenneth Cox on June 19, 1965, at the Hampton United Methodist Church, Hampton.
Judy graduated from United Township High School in 1964 and later graduated from Black Hawk Practical Nursing School in 1965. After Black Hawk, she worked as an office nurse for several doctors.
She was active in the United Methodist Church all of her life as a pastor's wife and was past president of the United Methodist Women. She was very active in church choir, quilting and crafts.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Craig (Melissa) Cox, Champaign; a daughter, Brenda (Karson) Drake, Round Lake Heights, Ill.; five grandchildren, Haley and Alex Cox, Taylor, Madeline and Grace Drake; a stepgrandaughter, Summer Parham; and a sister, Jayne (Dick) Booth, Moline.
