Why watch: The last time these two met at the Carver Center, the start was delayed 90 minutes as baby powder thrown by the Rock Island student section during pre-game introductions landed on the court, making it unplayable. Alleman eventually earned a 67-61 win on Jan. 27, snapping a seven-game losing streak in the series. "It's our turn to provide the pre-game entertainment," Alleman coach Pat Rangel said. "I'm going to keep that a secret." ... Rocky is the lone unbeaten remaining in the Big 6. The Rocks won the Rock Island-Milan Booster Club Thanksgiving Classic by an average of 18 points. "I'm happy with where we are early in the season," Rocky coach Thom Sigel said. "We also talked that there's a ton of room for improvement. The mentality we're trying to get across is it's over. Now, we jump into a road Big 6 game." ... Alleman will have its full roster for the first time this season. Seven players -- Sam Lootens, Adam Hoogerwerf, Kevin O'Keeffe, John Tracey, Aaron Murray, Alec Diab and Steven Ewald -- did not play last week because of Alleman's run to the Class 4A football state championship game. "We have a lot of options this year," Rangel said. "We have more options than teams think we did. Now, it's getting those options ready." ... Rocky will be without seniors Brian Richardson (hamstring) and Jacobe Julien (knee) and juniors Austin Simmer (shoulder) and Keenen Shorter (knee) because of injuries. Senior Bryce Jones (leg) will be available after missing the first four games.
Rock Island coach Thom Sigel: "It's a road conference game. It's always nice to get the first one. It's better when it's on the road."
Alleman coach Pat Rangel: "We're not so much worried about Rock Island as we are about what we need to do. If we do what we need to do and they understand what we need to do, we'll be OK."
