Letter: Q-C, join him in supporting local talent; Go, Augie!
Comment on this story
After going to Augustana's basketball team's season opener, I was disappointed not to see more love and support for Tayvian Johnson and his Augie teammates. Tayvian had an outstanding career as a player at United Township High School. Augie chose him and he said, "Yes." Our young black males have a hard time these days. When a local, young black male decides to play for a college (Augie) which is within 20 minutes for most in the Quad-Cities area, I would like to see more family and friends and alumni support him and his teammates. It was nice to see a few people that I knew who were at the game. I met a few new friends. Thank God for his mother, brother and a few friends sitting together cheering him and his teammates play a good brand of basketball, led by an outstanding Grey Giovanine and his staff. Quad-Citians, get involved and support Tayvian Johnson, his teammates, Augie and the community. As for me, I plan to attend home games and cheer for Augie. I ask the good Quad-Cities community to join me. Let's go, Augie! Bobby O. Jackson, Rock Island
