Press release submitted by Republican Women of Rock Island County

Republican Women of Rock Island County will meet Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at Denny's Restaurant near S.P. Mall at 2601-52nd Avenue, Moline, IL

Meeting is 6:00 p.m. Order off the Menu Dinner is optional at 5:00 p.m.

Guest Speaker will be Patrick Hughes, a former candidate for U.S. Senate who finished second to Senator Mark Kirk in the six-way 2010 Republican Primary.
Currently, Patrick serves as featured speaker for the Illinois Opportunity Project (IOP), an independent research and public policy enterprise that promotes legislative solutions in advance of free markets and free minds. In his role, Patrick focuses on educating and mobilizing Illinoisans through a statewide grassroots effort, promoting legislation rooted in economic freedom, and finding and training the next generation of conservative leaders.
Earlier this year, the Illinois Opportunity Project released the 2012 Legislative Vote Card, a report card grading every state legislator on how often they voted to protect taxpayers' interests and promote economic growth.
IOP also hosts an interactive website that allows activists to contact their legislators via phone or email about the important issues of the day, for example, the progressive income tax.
Mr. Hughes also serves as President of the Liberty Justice Center, a free-market public interest law firm that advances liberty through legal action. Under Hughes' leadership, the Liberty Justice Center persues litigation that increases economic liberty, protects private property rights, and enforces constitutional limits on government's power.
